The Arts in Healing program at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital provides opportunities for pediatric patients and their family members to get creative and express themselves. Daily offerings to patients include music, dance/movement, jewelry making, visual art making and creative writing via EWU’s Writers in the Community. This special event brings Spark Central and festival author Bethany Taylor into residence with the Arts in Healing program. Participants will create their own superheroes with an activity presented by Spark Central, a non-profit creative space (
spark-central.org). Bethany Taylor, from Interpunct-Press, will read her letterpressed children’s book Things on Strings. Participants can create their own string things like a paper can telephone and thaumatrope (and learn what that is!), participate in writing activities and learn more about self-publishing.
